Porter County Jail Visitation

Visiting Hours:

Monday through Friday

1:00 PM - 4:00 PM (sign in ends at 3:30 pm)

and

Monday through Thursday

6:30 PM to 8:00 PM (sign in ends at 7:30 pm)

 

There is no visitation on legal holidays.

Volunteers for Visitation

Porter County Sheriff's Department is seeking volunteers to check-in visitors to video visitation at the Porter County Jail.

Jail Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age, be able to pass a background check, have no relatives or associates incarcerated while serving as a volunteer, and have the ability to operate a simple computer program.

The visitation area is ADA accessible. Jail visitation hours are

Monday through Friday from 1:00pm to 5:00pm and Monday through Thursday from 6:30pm to 8:00pm,

excluding legal holidays.

Volunteers should be available to work at least 4 hours during the week.

Duties include signing in visitors to the jail lobby area, assigning them to a video visitation booth,

and linking the visitation video screen with the inmates' screen via computer.

The volunteers will also monitor the visitation room and maintain decorum.

There is NO interaction with inmates.

All visitation take place in a public area.
