ISA Student Scholarship

A letter from Porter County Sheriff David Lain

January 28, 2014

A major reason I choose to be a member of the Indiana Sheriffs’ Association (ISA) is because they are deeply committed to helping and guiding our youth. To that end, every year the ISA awards thousands of dollars in scholarships to Indiana students who are seeking a career in criminal justice. Approximately 40 college or college bound students will be awarded $500 scholarships across the state.

Applicants must meet the following requirements in order to qualify:

  • Be an Indiana resident

  • Be a current member of the ISA, or the dependent child or grandchild of an ISA member

  • Attend an Indiana college or university full-time (12 credit hour minimum)

  • Major in a law enforcement field

Applications must be received at the ISA office no later than April 1, 2014. (147 E. Maryland St., Indianapolis, IN 46204-3608). They can be obtained in several ways.

  • They are available from your high school guidance office.

  • You may request an application in writing from the ISA at their Indianapolis address.

  • Applications may be downloaded from www.indianasheriffs.org

  • They are also available at the Porter County Sheriff’s Department.

These awards are distributed all across the state, which is divided into districts to ensure fairness.

If you have any questions, please contact my office at 477-3112. Good luck!
