Two officers join Porter County Sheriff’s
Porter County Sheriff David Lain (right) swore in two
new officers Aug. 2 to bring the Sheriff’s Department to
full staffing. Officer Thomas Ramus (left) and Officer
Nathan Graf entered the 15-week program at the Northwest
Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Hobart this week.
Ramus, 24, is a graduate of Munster High School and
Indiana University. He is a sniper in the Indiana
National Guard and worked in the Porter County Jail as a
jail officer for the past year.
Graf, 24, is from Wheatfield. He graduated from Kankakee
Valley High School and St. Joseph’s College. Graf also
worked in the Porter County Jail for more than two years
prior to being hired as an officer.
