Sheriff's Department and Other Volunteers Help PCACS for
the
Day of Caring
Written by Melissa Westphal Benefiel of PCACS
On Friday, August 27, several volunteers from the
Porter County
Sheriff’s Department, including Sheriff
Dave Lain,
spent the day improving the curb appeal at Porter County
Aging & Community Services (PCACS). “They
donated their time to do several landscaping projects
that saved PCACS a great deal of time and money that can
now be used to help those most in need in Porter County.
Without the support of community leaders like Sheriff
Lain, the United Way of Porter County’s Day of Caring
wouldn’t be the success that it is for the United Way
and nonprofits like PCACS,” stated
Development & Marketing Director,
Melissa Benefiel.
Another group of volunteers hosted a party for PCACS
Hebron Senior Center. Led by team leaders
Melissa Mitchell
and
Lois Jones
Holiday, fourteen volunteers provided
lunch, bingo prizes and more for Hebron seniors.
According to Benefiel, “The
Day of Caring party at the Hebron Senior Center has
become an annual tradition supported by several generous
groups over the years.”
