UNION TOWNSHIP- Police dog helps find missing 12-year-old

A missing Porter County girl was found after a Porter County Sheriff's Police K-9 found her in an overgrown, wooded area, according to a news release.

The 12-year-old girl had gone missing from her Union Township home at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Family said she was wearing just a T-shirt, pants and flip-flops when she left on foot in cold weather, according to the report.

Within a few hours, Cpl. Matt Edwards and K-9 Bandit tracked to her an area not far from her home. The area was heavily wooded, keeping Edwards from seeing into it, according to the report.

Bandit was able to get to her, though, and she was returned home.
