The Porter County Sheriff’s Department announces the second annual

anti-substance abuse essay contest for 4^th and 5^th grade students.

Any 4^th or 5^th grader in Porter County can submit a one page essay, story or poem about the dangers of substance abuse.

Entries must be no longer than one side of an

8.5 X 11 inch sheet of paper, typed or neatly written.

The deadline for entries is Monday April 27^th at 4:00 PM

Portage Mayor Olga Velazquez Youth Commission will judge the submissions.

Winners will be able to ride in the

Sheriff Department’s 1967 Impala SS muscle car during one of the parades in which we appear during the year.

Entries must include the contestant’s name, age, phone number and school.
