Anti-Drug Chevy Impala

The first week of July was an active one for the Sheriff's Department's Anti-drug Chevy Impala.

First it was featured at the car show/ fireworks display at the Porter County fairgrounds on June 28th.

The next day Sheriff Lain drove it to the National Sheriffs' Association conference in Indianapolis where it was on display for the 4000 in attendance.

Back home for Independence Day, the SS was seen in the Portage Parade with special guest Bob Schlobo (left) whose winning Opportunity Enterprises art project won him a ride with the Sheriff.

On July 5th, the car helped celebrate the town of Porter's sesquicentennial in their parade.

Before returning to the garage, the car stopped for a very traditional root beer at The Port drive-in in Chesterton. Thanks for the quick and friendly service Sarah!

Later that day essay winner Alex Baldwin and Ashley Alexander rode in the South Haven parade.
