Women's Self Defense Class

On March 6^th, Corporal Phil Miller and Detective Scott Hartz provided a women’s self defense class at the Sheriff’s Department.  The class was open to all female Sheriff’s Department employees.  Participants included various women from the Records Division, the Civil Bureau, Dispatch, and other departments.  The class centered on mental preparation for attacks; including awareness of surroundings, types of attacks, and types of attackers.  Also discussed were various types of weapons used for self-defense, and how to use weapons in an attack situation.  A short list of practical self-defense techniques were also demonstrated and practiced.
