On Friday, 11-19-04 Chief David Lain
was a guest on the afternoon talk show on radio station WJOB (1230 AM)
and WIMS (1420 AM). He talked about The Sheriff's Department's support
of and involvement with Porter County Triad, an advocacy group
addressing the needs of seniors. Chief Lain announced that thanks to the
generosity of Mr. Brian Busch, the owner of Range Master Outfitters in
Chesteron, Triad will soon be able to implement Project Lifesaver. That
program will allow specially trained Sheriff's officers to
electronically locate missing seniors who are issued a wristwatch sized
transmitter. The photo shows another of Triad's endeavors, the Safety
Beacon give-away program. These special bulbs can be installed at the
homes of seniors who would then be able to activate a flashing mode in
order to assist emergency responders in finding their house. |
